Back in the "Seattle" Again

Dad couldn't stay away, drove down for the weekend to see the boy. Two weeks was too much! Uncle Bill rode co pilot, got me stuck out of down town Seattle to the Ronald McDonald House next to the Children's Hospital. I was so excited to see the boy, the wife said I needed to calm down. We picked up her & the boy then went to Auntie Shawnee's for the weekend. I watched mom feed the boy extra milk after a feeding w/ the feeding tube, holy cow that's allot of milk! Where does it all go? Moms a pro at taking care of this boy w/ the med's -n- all. Mom says it was quite the emotional ordeal putting that tube back in after the boy removed it.

Seeing him again, he has got SO BIG! Mom thinks he's the same. No way! His head is rounder & fuller, his cheeks are chubbier, his mouth is bigger & his smiles have more character to them. He reaches out to you & everything else he can get his little hands on. His whole body has got the super wiggles, he can arch his back and almost roll around. His color, his color is awesome. I could just kiss his little face off.

Mom is losing weight, she needs to eat more. I wish I lost weight when I stress out, it's the opposite. Well I drove 9+ hrs & the boy is sleeping & I better take his lead.

I've asked Mike to be Reid's God Father. I did this because He has fallen in love w/ the boy. You can see it when he plays w/ the boy & how he misses him & he's here in Seattle! Reid has found his way into his heart. Cool.

Thank You! Everyone for all your help & support. Thank you Jayson for all the hours & time you have saved the family w/ the flights. And I could still go on & on w/ all the other help we have been getting from the community. Can't wait to be home w/ the boy.

However I had never had the honor of reading the story of your struggles and triumps until today.I went through somethng similar and yet different many years ago when My son was run over and it smashed his liver, spleen and so on. It was dark days. This is the good news. He just turned 37, has a beautiful family of 5 and is youth directer in a 2000 member church in Nashville today. ALL things really do work for the good of those who love the Lord and those called according to His purposes.

Many who were cold in their hearts were thawed out by My Mikey's story and many were saved as the story of his miracle recovery hit front page of the Spokane paper.

Reid is also called apparently to thaw the hearts of many and lead them to the Master.

How privileged you are (Joseph and Mary) to hold this gift to the lost and hopeless in your arms.

Pray even now for the souls this boy is apponted to touch with his life. Pray that special covering over his life to keep him in times of trouble.

So knowing that Reid is a Holy terror to the gates of hell and a vessel of honor in the plans of heaven, you get a heads up early on in your appointment not to just have a beautiful son to guard, body, soul and spirit. But you have a called out and chosen one to guard, guide and raise up for the Kingdom of God will prosper because of him.s You are blessed.

Strength, widom, council, understanding be granted to you that the eyes of your understanding will be open and you will know the hope of your calling.

Miracles Do Happen!

Throughout this adventure, one thing is for sure, miracles do happen! Starting from 'day one', we have experienced one miracle after another.

First, we conceived a beautiful baby boy, Reid Morgan Peterson. Second, we made it through a difficult pregnancy. Third, through an unusual string of events, we found ourselves on a fast track of discovery and divine intervention, from Reid's birth until now. (The words 'difficulty to diagnosis to depending on God' had been a reoccuring theme for the past four months.) Fourth, we received blessing after blessing, as finances and jet planes were made available. Fifth, we received news of a liver donor and all the following events flowed into place. Sixth, Reid received a new liver and the miracles keep coming.

We are told that most of these kind of transplant surgeries involve a certain amount of abdominal swelling and / or organ swelling. (In our case, swelling of the liver.) Because of that, 90% of the time, the incision is left open. However, in Reid's case, there was no swelling to speak of and the doctors were able to completely close the incision at the end of the surgery. Not only that, but the new liver started working before the surgery was even completed. This is remarkable! A miracle.

Also, we were told that Reid's skin color would not be better for at least 4-5 days following surgery. However, immediately following surgery, Reid was already looking SO MUCH BETTER. White in his eyes and less yellow in his skin. Also, people keep remarking about his countenance. They call him 'spunky', 'a fighter' and 'strong'. He is more alert and active than what was to be expected. Over all, it seems that even his recovery is miraculous in how quickly he is healing.

We were told that we'd be in the hospital at least a month .. about 10 days in ICU and another 20 in a regular hospital room. However, after just 8 days since surgery, Reid is ready to be discharged from the hospital. In those 8 days, he was eating sooner than expected, he was healing sooner than expected, he was taken off of tubes and IVs sooner than expected, he was taken off of pain killers and meds sooner than expected. This quick recovery is generally unheard of.

We look forward to the wonderful blessings that are yet to come our way for our beautiful miracle baby.
